Hammock

Now that the weather seems to be consistently nice, Eric and I set up our hammock. Maddie and Eric jumped right in to test it out!

Swimming

Here are some pictures of Maddie (and Eric) swimming today. We went to Mountlake Terrace pool, which has an amazing kid's pool. Maddie had a lot of fun. While there were a lot of fun things in the pool for kids to play with, Maddie mostly wanted to go up and down the ramp into the pool. She started out being a bit cautious and wanting to hold our hands, but ended up wanting to take it on herself. She was a bit unsteady on her feet in the water, but she got the hang of it by the end. It was a great experience and I'm excited to take Maddie to the pool and wading pools over the summer.

First Haircut

Despite my desire to never cut Maddie's hair, I realized it was time to get her first haircut. There were pieces longer than others, it was in her eyes - it was just time. So, Eric and I went to the local kids' salon today and got her hair trimmed.

Here is Maddie last night. Notice the stringy hair in the back and how it hangs in her eyes in the front.

The salon had little cars for the kids to sit in while they got their hair cut. Maddie didn't last that long and ended up getting her hair cut while sitting on my lap.

The salon did provide a basket of toys to keep Maddie entertained. Overall, she did pretty well, though now I do understand why they charge so much for kids' haircuts!

This is Maddie, post haircut. She even let the woman put two little piggies in her hair and spray in some glitter - how fancy!

A lollipop by the train table makes this adventure a success.

Maddie and Daddy on the way back to the car.

Still on the way back to the car. Notice the lollipop is now dangerously close to Daddy's hair!

Grandma's Visit

Grandma Karen came to visit us this past week and we had a lot of fun. While she was here, we were able to plant a vegetable garden and it looks cute! Grandma bought Maddie her very own gardening tools and Maddie loved to "help" and dig in the dirt. We planted tomatoes, lettuce, rosemary, cilantro, parsley, and basil. We also have peppers to come, but it's still a bit too cold.

We also had time to have lots of fun. We went to the playground, the Ballard Sunday market, and gymnastics. Maddie had a lot of fun playing with Grandma and we're glad to know Grandma and Grandpa are coming back in August.
